Making Root Beer! / 09-sugarwater Heather Lawver 6/10/2004
It was really interesting watching the sugar water change colors. A little bit of sasparilla had been added to the water because Greg dipped the measuring cup into the water after he was finished measuring the sassafras and yucca, just to clean it out without wasting the ingredients. The sugar water had a strange grainy, milky texture to it. I happened to get a little on my hand at one point
and it was so incredibly sticky. But the color was fantastic! My camera had a difficult time picking it up through the steam, but I think this one is fairly accurate. I'm half tempted to paint a wall in my house somewhere this color, but I'm afraid living around this color would only quadruple my root beer cravings. But then again, root beer makes me happy, so maybe living in a keg wouldn't be so bad...
